I finally did it! I finally made cold brew coffee, AT HOME!
My hubby introduced me to the Starbucks cold brew last year and have been obsessed with it since and cannot stop! It’s so smooth, it’s so delicious, it’s so balanced, it’s so… okay, I’ll stop but seriously, it’s amazing!
Fun fact: did you know the cold brew is much less acidic than regular hot coffee?

Okay, but now, if you’re like me and you love having cold brew, but hate paying the $5 per serving, then you’re at the right place. We are going to make the same cold brew concentrate at home and guess what! no fancy gadgets needed here…just a grinder to coarsely grind your coffee, a large jar/pitcher, a very fine mesh sieve and that’s it!
Let’s get started! You will need:
- 6oz coarsely grounded coffee roasted to your liking
- 6 cups cold water
- A pitcher to brew in
- A pitcher to strain in
YE, THAT’S IT! Let’s make it:
- If you haven’t already done so, then coarsely ground your coffee. I find that finely grounded coffee brews much stronger and is too bitter for my liking
- Once done, add your coffee to an empty pitcher that can hold up to 6 cups of water, otherwise feel free to split it into two pitchers/jars
- Pour cold water into the pitcher/jar & mix the ingredients making sure all the coffee is fully moistened. Cover and let the mixture brew in the fridge for 24hours.
- Once ready, strain the mixture using a fine-mesh sieve, {you could also add a cheesecloth to your mesh}, and pour over slowly into your second pitcher. Do not rush the process, let it take its time and drip.
Once all the coffee is strained, you are ready to enjoy a delicious cup of your very own cold brew! enjoy it as is, or with some cream or even cardamom… oh and come back here to thank me because you’ll love it!!! 😉
