Collagen? What is it?

I would like to share something that happened to me earlier this year that I have not yet shared with anyone on my social platforms. On the evening of January 1st 2021, it was snowing quite heavily and my husband and I decided to go out for a walk. It’s something we enjoy doing together during the Winter.  On our way back, as I was getting into the car, I somehow twisted my knee and hurt it really badly. I was injured and limping for almost a month – it was NOT FUN! That experience got me wondering – what is going on with me?. I know I just hit my thirties, but seriously how is my body already so weak? It didn’t make any sense to me. So I did what anyone else would have done…turned to google. Throughout my research there was one word that kept popping up – Collagen! So I narrowed down my search to what collagen is and the more I read about it, the more I knew I needed this supplement in my life!

Which brings us to what is Collagen? Collagen is a protein that our body already produces however as we age, the production slows down and that is where supplements come in handy. Most collagen supplements come from the bones, skin, and connective tissue of animals, such as cattle & fish. Here are some of the benefits of taking collagen:

  • It helps with the bone & Joint support
  • Healthy skin, hair and nails
  • Aids in natural collagen production
  • Healthy gut support

Since collagen is derived from animal products, due to my dietary restrictions, I had to make sure that I looked for one that was halal certified. I very quickly realized that there aren’t many halal collagen options out there, I almost settled for vegan collagen, not something I was completely sold on since vegan collagen is made synthetically (and I wanted the real thing, you know?). But before I folded, I decided to check one more place – Amazon and there it was Senzu Health, not only do they carry certified Halal collagen, they also carry a variety of other supplements that are made of clean and natural ingredients that I know are safe to consume. And the best part… they are a family owned business based out of Vancouver, BC. (support local..yay!)

The company started out as a solution to the lack of clean supplements out there. All of their products are locally grown and they spend months researching each ingredient that goes into all their supplements because they want to make sure they are providing products that are natural, clean, and of the highest quality. Honestly, after going through their website, reading all about their products and the reviews they received, I knew for a fact that I had found what I was looking for and thought to myself, “more people should know about them.” So I reached out to them and they were willing to send me a jar of their collagen to try out.

To summarize, here’s why I decided to go with Senzu Health:

  • It’s made of premium collagen peptides
  • No Artificial ingredients
  • Tested for heavy metals and pesticides
  • Zero Gluten, GMO or Soy
  • Halal certified and best of all
  • They are MADE IN CANADA!

I have been taking their collagen for a few weeks now and I have truly been very happy with the results. The collagen dissolves quickly, is tasteless and can be mixed into any beverage. My muscles and joints already feel sturdier and it is great knowing that the supplements I am having are made of safe, clean and natural ingredients.

Some of the other products that Senzu health kindly sent over were their, Elderberry Gummies with Vitamin C & Zinc which are packed with antioxidants that help boost our immune system and energy levels and their Organic Milk Thistle which is commonly known to help detox and support the health of our livers.

Do you finally see the importance of Collagen and why you NEED to start taking it immediately especially for those of us who are in their late twenties and early thirties. I highly recommend checking out Senzu Health before purchasing your next stock of vitamins and health supplements. I am sure you too will fall in love with their products.

Let me know in the comments below if you are currently taking, or have taken, collagen. What are some other dietary supplements that you have tried and have now become a staple in your diet?
